Doors: 7:30pm
Muff Said - 8:30pm
The Slackers - 9:30pm
showtimes are approximate and are subject to change
Tickets will be available on the door; advance tickets are always cheaper.
The Slackers return to Metropolis with their own crazy style of music mixing Imaginary-Jamaican-Rock-and-Roll, Punk and Horns (brass, not bone!).
Muff Said - There's an instant blast to Muff Said, a combination of a brassy sound and the outright brashness of frontwoman Liz.
With four woman in their seven-strong line-up its temping to root them in post-punk attitude girl bands like Delta 5 and Au Pairs or 2-Tones Selecter, not least because theres strong echoes of those sounds in the mix. - Venue Magazine. read more

FUNK FROM THE TRUNK XXXL featuring SPEEDOMETER and funk legend MARTHA HIGH
Thu 30th September 2010 - Metropolis - Music Bristol |
FUNK FROM THE TRUNK XXL presents...
SPEEDOMETER featuring MARTHA HIGH
Speedometer, the UK's premier funk band started out as a quartet gigging in small clubs in the Southeast of England, playing classic funk tunes by artists such as The Meters and The JB's. The band soon expanded, adding the now renowned horn section (The Rev Horns) and vocalists (The Speedettes), enabling them to deliver the powerhouse deep funk sound they're known for today.
Martha High has sung with Soul Legends including James Brown, Marva Whitney, Lyn Collins, Bobby Byrd, Gwen McCrae and RAMP. During her collaboration with Soulpower, High performed all across Europe and even performed in Africa, backed by the Soulpower Allstars. In February 2005, High embarked on the "James Brown's Funky Divas Tour" in Europe, sharing the stage with her friend Lyn Collins. Today, Martha continues to tour the world, notably with Pee Wee Ellis as part of his Still Black, Still Proud show and she featured at the 2008 Harbour Festival. read more
